R.I.P. Bob Clark
Bob Clark and his son were killed today in a car accident in California. Our sympathies go out to his family. He will be greatly missed.

That is horrible news. Black Christmas, Deathdream, Christmas Story, Porky’s…. definitely one of Canada’s MVP’s. His son too. I can only imagine the grief his relatives are feeling. He’ll be greatly missed.
An absolute tragedy. Rest in Peace, Bob and Ariel.
A warm, and thoroughly engaging personality. I’m only glad that he was able to experience a resurgence in popularity in the last three or four years from more and more fans discovering his influential 1970s classics on DVD.

The only reason I didn’t delete this comment is to point out that I’m pleasantly surprised the blog has been going this long before we got our first really dumb comment. Yes, it’s a tragedy that Bob Clark was killed by a drunk driver, but that the driver was Mexican or an illegal alien is completely irrelevant – drunk drivers come in all races and states of legality. According to drunk driving statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Texas has the highest number of drunk driving fatalities of all the states. So, if you’re going to say something ignorant, it’d make more sense to blame drunk driving on rednecks.
Irrelevant to you, perhaps, but maybe a bit more relevant to the Clark Family. Had the Law of the Land been enforced, as it should have, that particular drunk driver—Hector Velazquez-Nava—would have been in Mexico on April 4, and Bob Clark and his son would still be alive.
And maybe he would’ve been killed by Jesper Hatrock heading home from taxidermy club, Jennifer Smith out on a bender after a hard day of stock trading, or a priest who had too much sacramental wine. Hector Velazquez-Nava is clearly a selfish dick, but his nationality has nothing to do with his personal bad judgement. People get killed by all kinds of drunk drivers every day; making racist comments about illegal immigrants doesn’t help anyone. Not to mention that without illegal immigrants bolstering the workforce, many states’ infrastructures would collapse. I’m not passing judgment on U.S. immigrations laws here, just stating a fact.
