White Wedding / Black Christmas

Coolest. Wedding. Ever.

Congrats to Rue Morgue writer and Canuxploitation creator Paul Corupe and his bride Alex Mlynek, who got married yesterday. An amazing buffet, open bar, great music (Johnny Cash: hell yes!) and a killer setting (Toronto’s Spin Gallery, which had all kinds of awesome and dark photography up on the walls) seriously bumped up the cool factor, but my favourite touch was the seating assignment cards, which look like movie tickets. Every table had a miniature movie poster from a Canadian exploitation film, and wouldn’t ya know it, I was at the Black Christmas table. Although the urge was great, I did not grab the mic and do impersonations of Billy.

  1. That’s a unique table décor. A wedding with an exploitation décor is something I haven’t seen before. Why did the couple include that? Are they fans of Kill Bill? I can’t wait to see some wedding picture samples. I hope they’re not all black or punk in style.
