Every week, Steve over at The Horror Blog does a roundtable where he asks a horror-related question that a bunch of us geeks pontificate on. This past week he asked us to name our favourite opening credit sequence in a horror film. I went with the first one that came to mind: the Dawn of the Dead remake, where the global zombie apocalypse begins to the beat of Johnny Cash’s “When the Man Comes Around.” Another pick was the opening to Se7en, which started the trend of really ambitious credit sequences back in ’95. The man responsible for both of these is Kyle Cooper, who has also done credit sequences for genre titles such as The Island of Dr. Moreau remake, Mimic, Fallen, The Mummy, Darkness Falls, Dreamcatcher, Identity and Godzilla: Final Wars – not to mention all three Spider-Man movies and the new Superman.
