Smash Cut, Running Zombies and Extreme Ukiyo-e

Tonight is the big premiere of Lee Demarbre’s Smash Cut for our monthly CineMacabre movie nights, so grab your gutbucket and make your way down to the Bloor for this tribute to Herschell Gordon Lewis (who also appears in the movie). Lee will be here, along with writer Ian Driscoll and star David Hess. More info here. In the showmanship spirit of Lewis, we’re planning some special gross out pre-show activities, so you don’t wanna miss this one.

Secondly, if you never tire of the fast vs. slow zombie debate, check out this piece I wrote for my MSN blog about the run-dead.

Lastly, one of my favourite Rue Morgue features of the last couple years is Jason Lapeyre’s piece on Japanese Bloody Ukiyo-e art. Well, now there’s a book coming out on it, which you can pre-order here. It’s at the top of my X-mas wish list for sure.
