Rue Morgue Goes to Comic Con 2010, Part 1

on July 29, 2010 | 4 Comments

I love the smell of glavin in the morning, so there’s no better place to be than the 40th annual San Diego Comic Con. Like every year, this year’s nerdsplosion of geekiness was hectic, exhausting, informative and ridiculously fun. Here’s a peek at this year’s pop culture sensory overload.

That big goofy grin on my face is the result of spending time with (left to right) Joe Dante, Roger Corman and Julie Corman. The filmmaking stories that those three can tell…

At the Dead Rising 2 booth you could toss on a jacket, sit on a bloody motorbike and don a moose head for a picture. Here a fan poses for a shot. The moose head is a weapon in the game, and not some sort of weird Canadian fetish, in case you were wondering.

A sneak peek at some upcoming Universal Monsters toys.

Danny Trejo at the Machete party describing just one of the many ways he could fuck you up.

The Machete party featured custom classic cars and motorbikes (along with the real biker gang members who provided them), dancing girls, a clip from the movie, plus free tequila, beers and tacos, from this taco truck.

Did I mention the girls?

Trejo was joined by writer/director Robert Rodriguez and co-star Michelle Rodriguez.

We’re all friends at Comic Con!

Me with Ugly Americans animation director Aaron Augenblick (middle) and Josh Berenstein, the man behind Royal Flush magazine, at the Royal Flush booth.

At a round table interview for Lost Boys: The Thirst. (Left to right) Jamison Newlander (a.k.a Alan Frog), Corey Feldman (a.k.a. Edgar Frog) and co-writer Hans Rodionoff.

A killer backdrop for the Creepy booth. Imagine that as your wallpaper.

At the Saw VII party. (Left to right) Chris Lewchuk from Warner Bros. and So Sick Social Club, Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell, and Darren Lynn Bousman, director of parts II to IV.

  2. Thanks for the offer, Aaron! We go every year, so let’s hook up in 2011 and geek it up right.

  3. Izzy says:

Great photos, Dave! The Machete experience looked great! You can’t go wrong with free tacos and tequila! Amazing.

  4. Aaron Soto says:

Ok Dave, anything we can do to help on both sides of the San Diego border.
