Spend a holiday in Hell with Rue Morgue and Unstable Ground

Let’s face it – there’s a limit to how many times any sane, rational person can watch It’s a Wonderful Life. If you’ve reached or exceeded your own personal George Bailey tolerance, I urge you to ditch the family this coming Tuesday, December 13 and head over to Toronto’s Projection Booth (1035 Gerrard St. East) for the sixth installment of Little Terrors, appropriately titled “Holiday in Hell.” This month, the short film showcase will be followed by a screening of the 1980 psycho Santa classic, Christmas Evil.

Here’s a look at this month’s short film lineup:

Get Off My Porch (12 minutes)
Director: Patrick Rea
Locked in a vicious battle against strangely unsettling Girl Guides, a man must resist temptation and survive the night. Past festival favorite.

Play Dead (18 minutes)
Dir: Andres Meza-Valdes, Diego Meza-Valdes
A zombie apocalypse unites a ragtag pack of dogs on the ruined streets of Miami. Immune to the epidemic, they must stick together to survive the fall of society. Highly-entertaining, award-winning short; previous selection of Toronto After Dark.

Mockumentary About a Serial Killer (9 minutes)
Dir: Ryan Gerard Louagie
Meet Jon, a modern day saint. He’s the nicest person you could ever encounter – aside from the whole killing and eating humans thing.

Just Us (6 minutes)
Dir: Lori Bowen
Revenge is a dish best served, period. Unsettling short film shows a lot of promise.

Doll Parts (9 minutes)
Dir: Karen Lam
A young hitchhiker may have just taken the wrong ride. Award-winning festival hit.

Next Caller (16 minutes)
Dir: Patrick Rea
As a late-night radio shock-jock, Handsome Billy Bob Brown is used to all kinds of crazy calls and guests. On this particular night, he may face something that tests the limits of his beliefs, and endanger everything he holds dear.

Dead Pussy (7 minutes)
Dir: William Dio
Impressive noir-thriller, shot in inky black and white. Former selection of Fantasia Film Festival.

Brutal Relax (15 minutes, Spain)
Dir: Adrian Cardona, David Muñoz, Rafa Dengrá
When a gang of mutant sea monsters on a murder spree interrupts a man’s much needed vacation, his anger management techniques fail him, with deadly results. Insane gore fest with outstanding special effects.

PSA (3 minutes)
Dir: Trevor Juenger
Nobody knows the origin of this bizarre Soviet Psi-Ops training film, but we’re glad to have dug it up…

BLARGHAAARHRGARG (14 minutes, Portugal)
Dir: Nuria Leon Bernardo
Zeca, a down-on-his luck exterminator, accidentally spawns the meanest, most horrible monster ever. Fun and gory!

You can attend either the shorts program or the Christmas Evil screening for $8, or you can hit them both for just $12. Little Terrors is co-presented by Rue Morgue and production company Unstable Ground. For more info, check out this month’s Facebook event page and the Little Terrors fan page.
