I’m back from Maui and hunkered down in the much more wintery climes of Alberta. Although I didn’t sample any Maui Wowee, I’ve gotta say that Hawaii far exceeded my expectations on every level: the scenery, the weather, the people, the food, the beaches, the sights and the beer (coconut porter = awesome).
Not a lot [...]
A Nightmare Just Before Christmas
Los Angeles, 2019
I’ve been in LA the last couple of weeks and I have to say “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe.” Thanks to my pal Charlie de Lauzirika, I walked on the fucking green carpet at the Jules Verne Awards show and Blade Runner gala and attended the private party at the Bradbury building - [...]
The Laundromat
so as some of you all know, i do a little film work on the side. mostly assistant director or production kind of stuff….but a few weekends ago, i finally put a Producer title on my belt! Wow. Definitely one of the best and craziest experiences I’ve had.
We shot a short dramatic—with [...]
Holiday With Supergator
Holidays are finally here for the Rue Crew and I’m off to Hawaii tomorrow morning to soak up some sun, see the sights, hit the beach, and, if all goes well, fight Supergator. If you’re wondering who or what Supergator might be, watch the above trailer for the new-ish Roger Corman-produced flick of the same [...]
Love is in the Air
Love for Rue Morgue, specifically. Midnight Madness Madman Colin Geddes (pictured above in all his head-injured glory with two guests at our Halloween shin-dig) put together this video featuring highlights of the 2007 RM Halloween party performance of Goblina.
He also posted Romero / Argento Festival of Fear footage on his kick-arse blog Popcorn and Sticky [...]
Season’s Grievings
Rue Morgue will be closing it’s doors during the month of December, allowing us to reboot and spend some time with our family and friends. I can already smell the popcorn on the Christmas tree and taste the gingerbread houses, in which I will devour like a zombie eats brains. As we put issue 75 [...]
Mondo Macabre
I was meaning to post this earlier but I just got busy and it slipped my ever enfeebled mind. RM writer, and our resident soundtrack expert, Mark R. Hasan has a sharp film blog called Mondo Mark, on which he posted a Q&A with Audra and I about the CineMacabre movie night featuring Bava’s Bay [...]
King Things
Time has a great Q&A with Stephen King. Here are three reasons to give it a read:
1) A diatribe about the sorry state of the North American news media, which includes the phrase, “Britney Spears is just trailer trash. That’s all.”
2) News of a supernatural musical he’s working on.
3) This awesome quote: “Someone in the [...]
She May Be Stupid, But She’s All Mine
Because pugs tend to have underbites, they often can’t keep their tongues in their mouths - even when they’re closed.
Godzilla’s no exception:
Her stupidity is so adorable.
Funny or Die!
I’ve been addicted to watching Funny or Die, a comedy video website created by actor/comedian Will Ferrell and writer/director Adam McKay (Talladega Nights, Anchorman). Celebrities, up-and-coming comedians, and regular users can upload original material or stuff they think is funny and the viewers can vote “Funny” or “Die” by clicking on the vote button. You [...]
