Cong of the Dead and other Grindhouse Fun
There’s a contest through the upcoming South by Southwest media festival, in which contestants make their own grindhouse trailers, in honour of the upcoming film Grindhouse (you’ve heard of it, right — the one by that Clinton Tarantula guy and someone named Robbie Rodrigo). Anyhow, the entries are showing up on YouTube, and this one’s the best thus far. Cong of the Dead: stop-motion doll animation + Vietnam War + zombies = gold.
And, if you haven’t caught any others yet, there’s The Maiden of Death and Hobo with a Shotgun (presumably from the makers of Tramp with a Crossbow and Bum with a Handgrenade) among the other top entries thus far.
Maaaan, watching those trailers really makes me want to make my own. It’s all in the sell — a good tagline and a great title. If you could make one, what would it be?

“When grizzlies ate his arms, science gave him a hand — now Maxwell Logan is clawing his way through the underworld as…”

If I could buy the foreign release rights, I’d retitle it “The Right to Bear Arms.”
