We’re Gonna Have a Murder Party Tonight — Alright!
Just a quick reminder to genre geeks in the Toronto area that tonight is the closing gala for the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, so get your asses in gear and head down to the Bloor for 7pm to see Murder Party, a great splatter comedy by NYC writer-director Jeremy Saulnier, and then to the party afterwards at the Bovine. The film’s star and co-producer, Chris Sharp, who I had the pleasure of meeting last night after the screening of Nightmare Detective (a cool Shinya Tsukomoto flick, by the way) will be in attendance. More info here.
And on that note, a big congrats to TADFF director Adam Lopez and all of his staff and volunteers for putting on such a kick-ass genre festival. TADFF is just what this city needs, so support it, let it thrive.
If you’ve met Adam, you know he’s kind of like the Energizer Bunny crossed with the Tazmanian Devil, but with a British accent. Therefore, if you see a dark-haired man in a black blazer bouncing around the room, gesticulating wildly, pin him down and tell what you think of the Fest. Or just put him in headlock and give him a nuggie. It’s all good.
