Rue Morgue - Abbatoir

Season’s Grievings

Rue Morgue will be closing it’s doors during the month of December, allowing us to reboot and spend some time with our family and friends. I can already smell the popcorn on the Christmas tree and taste the gingerbread houses, in which I will devour like a zombie eats brains. As we put issue 75 to rest in our tenth year of publication, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic, maybe even sentimental, and I’m not even drunk on Rum and eggnog yet. I think back to when Rue Morgue was just a tiny little ‘zine, working in an office no bigger than a large bedroom, meeting the writers and artists who would eventually help mold and shape Rue Morgue into the unique magazine it has become. The faces have changed, there’s more grey hair on my head than I’d like to admit, people have been and gone but our attitude and devotion to all this horror business has not. In fact, it still feels like we are that little ‘zine, pushing ourselves in new directions and facing new challenges. I’m looking forward what’s on the misty horizons of 2008. Although we’ll be popping up on the blog and our message boards randomly over the holidays, here’s wishing all you deviants of nature a very Black Christmas and a Bloody New Year!

    Thanks guys.
Actually I should have mentioned that the x-mas card was a team effort with Justin. He did a kick ass job colouring and detailing a sketch I did. I’m seeing more collaborations in the future!

Happy holidays…despite the events, will be eagerly awaiting the next issue…and congrats on 10 years…it really does still feel like an independent ‘zine, and that’s why it will always be so beloved. Cheers to a new year with Rue Morgue!!!
