Price the Pitchman
I was looking up an old TV ad starring Vincent Price, for an upcoming Rue Morgue article, and I came across a bunch of other ones on YouTube, which I’ve compiled here for your Vinnie-viewing pleasure. My fave is the one that has the least of him in it, as I love his maniacal laugh and the way he’s able to entertain in even the smallest of roles. Really, Vincent Price taking maniacal delight in a bug-zapper, does it get any better than that?
And if you’ve got about 15 minutes to kill, here’s a 3D still camera tutorial/ad starring Vinnie:
Part 1
Part 2

In the words of Dana Gould, “I love Vincent Price. He’s my favourite EVERYTHING!”

Vincent is the ultimate, but there’s something sad about these commercials…..almost enough to make me picture what was going on in his life, his career when he did them. Were they desperate attempts for a last flash in the spotlight? As much as I truly love the man and his work, it’s saddening to see him pimping a mildew cleaner…..Makes you wonder if after they called “cut” he just sighed, ran a hand over his hair and asked himself how the hell he got to that point.

I still have three of those “Enchanted World” books from ad # 3. That commercial owned my prepubescent mind. Hooked. Line. Sinker.
