You need to add Dead Alive and Blood of the Beasts.

Braindead is the uncut version of Dead Alive. (it's number 1 on the list)
I wasn't quite sure if I should add Blood of The Beasts or not because it is a documentary, not a movie. If I do though, I'll have to also add other real documentaries like Traces of Death.
If agreed of course.
Right?

100 Tears is a recent one. The halfway house massacre is one of the goriest sequences in a while.

Ah, my bad. I just scanned the list for that title and didn't pay as much attention on the 2nd readthrough to verify.

Right?

True, it is a doc and your probably right about the necessity to include other movies if you add it. Still, docs are movies. You didn't specify fiction.

Could Schramm and ostermontag count? Or are they less gory than i can remember (it's been some time since I've seen either)
But Squirmfest - defiantly stick that somewhere ( i never finished it sadly)

We need some love for Fulci up in here. How about some NY Ripper or City of the Dead....
And Cannibal isn't on here... that belongs near the top.

I recommend putting Inner Depravity 1 & 2 in that list, if they count. Seeing as they're short films.
And like Toy Ranch just said, Fulci's City of the Dead for sure.

Planet Terror is a recent one that was pretty gory. Top 100 worthy? I don't know, but it's gorier than Buio Omega which you have at #33.

Not that it would make the list, but Zombie 2 with the eyeball scene may be considered? I haven't seen a lot of the movies on the current list. I'm sure they are quite gory.

I would knock Braindead down a few pegs just because it is more a comedy than actual brutality. It makes you laugh not cringe. Maniac should be in the top twenty IMHO.

This list is bullshit; these two choices alone disqualify it from being taken seriously and demonstrate why these 'best' lists are worthless. Unless you've seen everything, how can you hope to authoritatively quantify your choices?
Just off the top of my head, both lists are missing titles like:
Cannibal (2005)
Centipede Horror
Ebola Syndrome
Entrails of a Beautiful Woman
Hell of the Living Dead
etc., etc.
Sorry, Tim, but piss on these lists.

Great choices! I fully agree!
Nobody can argue with the master of the subject himself.
With my powers of veto I was planning on never even including half of these previously mentioned movies for our list!
Most of my viewing actually comes from movies discussed about in your magazine articles FYI!

I'm no fan of lists either but seeing some of the choices on those alternate lists prompts me to open my mouth, so I think it's safe to add the following if it's pure grue you're looking for:
Das Komabrutale Duell
Splattenstein 2000
Der Todesengel 1 and 2
Mutilation Man (iirc this was pretty damn gory)
Just a few that immediately came to mind. Quality films they are not, but if you want human viscera painting the screen then these pretty much deliver.

Very impressive gore! Great job!
I look forward to Fetus!
I still need to see Dead Girl on Film, that looks pretty sick too!

Hmmm...good thread! I doubt that I've seen anything nearly as fucked up as some of the stuff that's been mentioned, but I'll try to chime in anyways...
Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment
The Untold Story
Cutting Moments (sure, it's all implied...but by God is that a fucked up movie)
Videodrome (some of the most disgusting and surreal gore effects that I have ever seen)
Art of the Devil 2
Hatchet
The Manson Family
Nightmare in a Damaged Brain (my copy is censored, but I've seen the uncensored version of the axe-murder-by-way-of-fucking scene...and it's pretty intense)
Zombi Holocaust (aka Doctor Butcher M.D)
Street Trash

The Ilsa movies.
Also....
From Beyond
Re-Animator
Day of the Dead
Not the MOST gory movies, but they'd probably make a top 100 list.
If we're including very disturbing stuff, I'd add I Spit On Your Grave. Prolonged rape scenes and, of course, the revenge.

I've long since lost count the number of films based and influenced by Manson. Perhaps it's time i go see Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

There is a difference between gore and brutality though. If it was a list for most brutal movies, Saving Private Ryan would top most of the horror movies because of the realistic violence. I agree BrainDead is still the king of gore films.

Agreed, and I had second thoughts about der Todesking... it's probably not on the top 100 gore list. It's brutal and hella intense... and gory too.... but probably not a top 100 gore film.

Maniac?
As #20?
That's laughable.
A cranial degloving, exploding head and one feeble decapitation do not a gore-fest make.
Raiders Of The Lost Ark has better gore than this movie.
This entire list is irrelevant simply based on that selection when mainstream horror like Dawn, Day of the Dead, TCM2 and The Beyond aren't selected.

I think the whole point is to create the list in this thread by discussing it. The stuff he posted is just kind of a starting point. It's not irrelevant when it's not even finished...

This may be lame but I would think Hellraiser/Hellraiser II would be added to my list(tons of flesh being removed, the eating of people ect..especially part II), maybe Zombi 2, The Beyond (hell many things Fulci did).

I'd put a vote in for the new rambo. Just for it's running time to blood ratio. Of course, a lot of the blood is visibly computer generated...
Coincidentally I just ordered Olaf Ittenbach's BEYOND THE LIMITS from xploited cinema just minutes before first viewing this thread.

This is also true for Violent Shit, as it is mentioned twice as well.
Now let's see...
The Wizard of Gore
Irreversible
I Stand Alone
I Drink Your Blood
Saw 3 (I hate to say it...but it's pretty fucking gory! I would say it's gorier than some of the stuff on this list...not to say it's amazing or anything, but it's worth considering)

On a sidenote, that's a lot of films I have to check out now....

Both Irreversible and I Stand Alone are pretty debatable choices. If it was a 'most disturbing or unsettling films' list then sure but on a Goriest films list? Both are pretty mild on the gore factor.

Really? I agree about I Stand Alone, but Irreversible had some really long and brutal scenes throughout, and it was portrayed very realistically without holding back or cutting away. It had a brilliant blending of cgi, real people and prosthetics. The guy's arm being broken looking very real, as did the ten minute rape and beating scene that eventually lead to the death of the victim and her unborn child. The smashing scene was one of the most brutal and realistic looking scenes ever film, it almost looked like something from Traces of Death. That combined with all the penises, trannys and gay sex only added to the disturbing feel of a place you never want to visit. That film actually had more of a "horror" feel to it then most of the others. I dunno, personally I think I might watch any of those again before I watched that.
