Based on the book of the same name by Joseph Maddrey, this documentary examines the idea that horror films reflect the times and places in which they are made - illustrating how classic monster movies exploited the anxieties of war-time generations, and how more savage modern horror films stem from the psychic fallout of America's counterculture movement and the subsequent rise of increasingly conservative political forces.

It is 1942 and the war has stalled along the Eastern Front. Desperate to advance, Hitler's forces turn to the Ahnenerbe, the secret occult division of the SS, to raise the spirits of their dead ancestors to fight on their behalf. Director Simon (The Living and the Dead) Rumley's latest follows the cool, emotionless Erica (Amanda Fuller), who dives into bed with any man she meets including local Austin rocker Franki (Marc Senter). When she is befriended by Iraq war vet Nate (Noah Taylor), she discovers the kindness of strangers, but also the gruesome shadowy side of it.

During a road trip, their humdrum image radically changes when Jennifer (Jessica Pare), the bass player, disappears one night with a hip vampire (Dimitri Coats). Debbie Rochon heads up an ensemble cast in this post apocalyptic sequel to Greg Lamberson's 1988 cult classic SLIME CITY. After a dirty bomb wipes out New York City's financial district, four squatters possessed by "Zachary Devon's Home Brewed Elixir" and "Himalayan Yogurt" battle ruthless mercenaries and mutant cannibals for control of the city. Rue Morgue scribe ERIC VEILLETTE presents an assortment of these condensed classic horror flicks and provide a history of the various distributors that offered them.
