A Couple Run For Their Lives In A New Clip From “The Retreat”

Tuesday, May 18, 2021 | Exclusives

Coming soon from Quiver Distribution, THE RETREAT is a boldly contemporary story of a couple pushed to their limits by cruel extremists.

With their relationship on the rocks, Renee (Tommie-Amber Pirie) and Valerie (Sarah Allen) leave the city to spend the weekend at a remote cabin with friends. Upon arrival, their friends are nowhere to be found, and, as their personal woes reach a fever pitch, they discover that they’re being targeted by a group of militants determined to exterminate them.

Directed by Pat Mills (Guidance) from a screenplay by Alyson Richards (The Sublet), THE RETREAT is the writer’s response to a rise in right-wing extremism and popular media’s well-worn “bury your gays” trope. “I really wanted to write a script where the queer women didn’t turn on each other but instead turned to each other to survive,” she says. “It was important to me that the gay women in THE RETREAT work together to turn the tables on the villains and live.”

Watch the exclusive clip below, and see THE RETREAT when it hits VOD platforms in the US and Canada on Friday, May 21st 2021.
