Exclusive: 4K “CHANGELING” and foreign frights coming in September from Severin; art & details

Horror for all ages is part of this big Blu-ray/UHD announcement.

Severin Films has a batch of great vintage horror streeting September 27. Leading off is a new UHD disc of Peter Medak’s classic ghost story THE CHANGELING (pictured) starring George C. Scott, featuring a 4K 1.85:1 scan from the internegative and four and a half hours of special features (including–full disclosure-a locations featurette in which this writer took part):

Hailing from Spain is TALES TO KEEP YOU AWAKE (HISTORIAS PARA NO DORMIR), a 1966-68 TV series written (under the pseudonym Luis Peñafiel) and directed by Narciso “Chicho” Ibañez Serrador, creator of WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? and LA RESIDENCIA/THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED. It includes adaptations of stories by Edgar Allan Poe, Ray Bradbury and Robert Bloch; the two-disc set includes the complete series plus a 1974 special, a 1982 miniseries and other extras celebrating Serrador’s legacy.

Severin has also collected (under its Intervision Picture Corp. banner) the shot-on-video PLAGA ZOMBIE TRILOGY, beginning with the $450 1997 production by then-17-year-old Buenos Aires, Argentina filmmakers Pablo Parés and Hernan Sáez that became a DIY horror favorite. This set contains the original PLAGA ZOMBIE and its two follow-up features, PLAGA ZOMBIE: ZONA MUTANTE and PLAGA ZOMBIE: ZONA MUTANTE–REVOLUCIÓN TÓXICA, together for the first time ever, remastered and upscaled by the directors and accompanied by:

Finally, Severin brings the New Zealand horror/comedy MY GRANDPA IS A VAMPIRE (a.k.a. MOONRISE and GRAMPIRE), starring THE MUNSTERS’ Al Lewis, to disc under its Severin Kids imprint. Directed by David Blyth (DEATH WARMED UP) and written by Michael Heath (NEXT OF KIN), the film was scanned in 2K at 1.85:1 from the original negative under Blyth’s supervision, and will come with these extras:
