Jack Perez, director of SOME GUY WHO KILLS PEOPLE and other genre films and series, has a serious cause behind his latest feature project, SEARCH & RESCUE. He gave us some exclusive words on the movie, to go with a promo trailer and info on its crowdfunding campaign.

SEARCH & RESCUE is a dark, stylish thriller that’s synopsized as follows: “In Los Angeles, a cynical but sensitive private eye and his retired getaway-driver partner are caught in a web of mystery and violence when they uncover a deadly conspiracy. It involves corrupt Hollywood producers, hired assassins and the secret world of animal liberation. They ultimately join forces with the animal activists to expose the truth.” Perez has set up an Indiegogo page to finance the movie with plenty of perks, which you can see here.

“This is definitely the most personal project I’ve tackled in a long time,” Perez tells RUE MORGUE. “It fuses my love of graphic, atmospheric thrillers with a lifelong passion for animal rights. Imagine MARATHON MAN by way of Dario Argento, made by a vegan cat lover. It’s gonna be violent, funny and hopefully touching, which is the same territory we explored in SOME GUY WHO KILLS PEOPLE.”

Not only that, but he’s reteaming with SOME GUY stars Kevin Corrigan, Lucy Davis and Barry Bostwick on SEARCH & RESCUE. “I’m at the point now where I really want to work with actors I genuinely connect with,” he notes. “Kevin, Lucy, Barry and I became close friends after making SOME GUY, so as I was writing SEARCH & RESCUE, I naturally began plugging them into roles. I’m just sad Karen Black’s not with us anymore; she was a friend and a force. But I’m overjoyed that the core of the SOME GUY cast is returning; they’re gonna kill!”

Keep you eyes here for updates on SEARCH & RESCUE as it gets closer to completion!
