Rhys Wakefield, who played the memorably vicious baddie in the first PURGE, is back as the twisted lead of the psychothriller THE GRAND SON, out next month. We’ve got an exclusive first look at the trailer.

Originally titled AMERICAN PETS, THE GRAND SON will be released digitally August 14 by Uncork’d Entertainment, followed by a DVD debut November 6. Robert Logevall directed from a script by Abram Makowka, and the cast also includes Fabianne Therese (SEQUENCE BREAK, SOUTHBOUND), Lesley Anne Warren, Nathan Keyes and Sarah Clarke. The synopsis: “High in the Hollywood Hills, Tod [Wakefield] and his sister Lani [Therese] live a charmed life in the mansion of their grandmother, a former movie star now hosting a home shopping show with failing ratings. She sees her grandchildren as spoiled and entitled, and when Tod senses that his lifestyle is in jeopardy, he hatches a diabolical plot to keep the home shopping show going and the moneyrolling in.”
