A remake of the film considered the first giant-monster movie made in Japan, THE GREAT BUDDHA ARRIVAL has a cast full of genre veterans, and we just got the scoop about the latest addition.
Philip Granger (pictured below), from TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL, TV’s GHOST WARS and many others, has joined THE GREAT BUDDHA ARRIVAL, to be directed by Hiroto Yokokawa. Based on the long-lost 1934 feature DAIBUTSU KOKAIKU, and being made with the blessings of its director Yoshiro Edamasa’s grandson, it sports a cast including legendary actor Akira Takarada (from six Godzilla films, including the original), Peggy Neal (THE X FROM OUTER SPACE), Yukijiro Hotaru (GAMERA trilogy, GODZILLA: GMK), Ippei Ohsako and Inge Murata (both from SHIN GODZILLA), Shelley Sweeney (four Godzilla films), Yuki Morita (GODZILLA 2014), Norman England (two Godzilla films), Robert Scott Field (GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH), Masanori Kikuzawa, J-Pop superstar Momoka Iwata, rapper Yuma, Kazuma Yoneyama, Jun’ichiro Nirasawa and Yoshihiko Ohtsuki (both from GODZILLA: FINAL WARS) and Takashi Yasuda. The filmmakers are in the midst of an Indiegogo campaign to cover the cost of shooting these cameos; you can see it here. The project’s official website can be found here.
That’s amazing. I’m a fan of Philip Granger.
I’m curious how can I watch this movie? Is it gonna be for sale sometime in future in any website?
Hiya Benjamin! We’re going to be seeking distribution in most territories and a few distributors have already expressed interest. I’ll be sure to keep Rue Morgue in the loop!
Thank you so much Avery for the swift reply,
Sounds excellent. I’m looking forward to that.
Also, I will be so much interested in your other productions. If there is any website I can see trailers, it will be awesome to see.
Thank you
Benjamin Isaacie
