Director Alexandre Aja and producer Sam Raimi take a bite out of the nature-amok genre with the alligator-attack movie CRAWL, coming from Paramount Pictures July 12. Jump past the jump to check out the trailer, poster and first photos.

Also produced by Craig Flores and Aja, and written by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen, CRAWL stars Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper. (It’s rather amusing to note that Raimi is cited as “a producer of EVIL DEAD” in that trailer…) The synopsis: “When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley [Scodelario] ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father [Pepper]. Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.”
