Tilman Singer’s much-praised festival favorite LUZ is coming to freak out audiences this month, and a new poster has been unveiled. See it after the jump.

LUZ, which we strongly reviewed here, will be released theatrically beginning July 19 by Screen Media. It opens on that date in New York (IFC Center, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema City Point, Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg) and Los Angeles (Laemmle Monica, Laemmle Glendale), with a national expansion to follow. Shot on atmospheric 16mm by writer/director Tilman Singer, LUZ stars Luana Velis, Jan Bluthardt, Julia Riedler, Johannes Benecke, Nadja Stübiger and Lilli Lorenz. The synopsis: “LUZ begins as a young female cabdriver [Velis, in the title role] drags herself into a rundown police station. However, a demonic entity has followed her there, determined to finally be close to the woman it loves.”
