The project is the long-awaited follow-up by New Zealand director Gerard Johnstone to his terrific, undercelebrated chiller HOUSEBOUND.

Blumhouse has announced that Allison Williams from GET OUT and THE PERFECTION will also be an executive producer on M3GAN, a co-production between Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster company, with Jason Blum and Wan producing and Universal releasing. Akela Cooper (Wan’s upcoming MALIGNANT) scripted from a story by Wan, and according to the official synopsis, “Williams plays Gemma, a brilliant roboticist at a toy company. She uses artificial intelligence to develop M3GAN, a life-like doll programmed to be a kid’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype–a decision that has unimaginable consequences.” Blumhouse’s Ryan Turek and Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear are also executive-producing. Stay tuned for further details!
