This year may be a perpetual dumpster fire, but from the ashes there will rise some great art. Despite the uncertainty, the horror creators below are striving to get their projects made, and could use a little help. Understandably, not everyone is in a position to contribute financially right now, but even just sharing these listings with your followers will help secure the future of horror!
Fans of Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt–listen up! A new horror anthology film is on the horizon and ready to grace your eyeballs. The Macabre features 5 short films, wrapped together by one encompassing twist-laden story. Expect monsters, wicked kills, and practical special effects along with appearances from Jeremy Spencer (Five Finger Death Punch), Mark Torgl (The Toxic Avenger), Kansas Bowling (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and more!
Capitalizing on the horticultural horror of The Shining, Labyrinthine is a game set in a hedge maze. Players must navigate dark corridors, solve puzzles, and outrun AIs that are hell-bent on destroying them. Open to solo or co-operative play, this interactive game hopes to bring the real scares and creepy atmosphere that rival projects fail to create. Contribute if you’ve got the (hedge) funds.
United States of Horror
United States of Horror is looking for something a little different from the crowd. Not only do they humbly request funding to get their anthology horror film made, they want your short films! Project owner Simon Phillips aims to acquire one entry per every state, each one embodying the essence of its particular locale. While horror is real in the US right now, try to keep your creativity outside the bounds of lockdown. Best of luck!
Halloween Never Ends
And now for a card game that embodies the darkest wishes of every fall child: Halloween Never Ends. Players must build, explore, and try to escape a haunted house while communicating with spirits. Team up with other investigators to reach your goal, if you please–but beware, someone will be possessed and working to foil your plans. Feeling generous? High level contributors will be inserted into the game via a beautifully hand-drawn investigator card.
