The legendary director will soon be putting fear in your ear.

Audio entertainment platform Serial Box has announced that it has partnered with John Carpenter and his longtime producer Sandy King Carpenter’s Storm King Productions. Together, they’ll co-produce exclusive audio horror stories and podcasts under the JOHN CARPENTER PRESENTS banner. The tales will be developed by both companies, with the Carpenters and Serial Box head of content Hayley Wagreich putting together a group of experienced horror content creators to work on the projects, which will be produced and recorded by Serial Box and live on its platform. At least five series per year will be developed, for a minimum of two years.

“Horror is a universal language that works across so many mediums,” the Carpenters say in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Serial Box–their rich sound design has advanced audio storytelling, offering us a new way to strike fear into the hearts of our audience. Harking back to spooky tales told around the fire, we can’t wait to get these stories out into the world.”

“We are incredibly fortunate to have a legendary filmmaker help us elevate audio storytelling as an art form,” says Serial Box co-founder and CEO Molly Barton. “John Carpenter invented the genre of smart, action-packed horror/suspense and through Serial Box’s immersive audio storytelling, he and Sandy can create new classics and connect with a new generation of fans.”
