A giant monster with a very familiar look trashes Japan in a film that can now be purchased on U.S. DVD. Read on for the info and trailer.

SRS Cinema has released RAIGA: GOD OF THE MONSTERS, which it previously issued on limited-edition Blu-ray, on a lower-priced DVD. Originally released in Japan in 2009 as RAIGA: THE MONSTER FROM THE DEEP SEA (SHINKAIJU RAIGA), the film was written and directed by Shinpei Hayashiya. The synopsis: “Global warming leads to excessive melting of the southern polar ice cap, disrupting Earth’s ecosystem. The receding ice brings long-dormant ancient sea creatures back to life—monsters that set their sights on Japan. Among the kaiju is an enormous sea beast the locals refer to as the legendary Raiga. The monster attacks the city of Asakusa, bringing death and destruction as he tramples building and lays waste to the military. Can Raiga be stopped, or will all of Japan be destroyed by his fury?”

The RAIGA DVD can be purchased on-line for just $9.96 from Walmart.com (it’s also available at Walmart stores) and Amazon.com.
