Actress Catherine Corcoran

Catherine Corcoran is one of the most luminous and versatile actresses of her generation, period.

After all, vanishingly few are the stars who could steal the show from Art the Clown in Terrifier, redefine sultry in Long Lost, go full TROMA in Return to Nuke ‘Em High and bring the pathos and love to Hallmark Christmas movie Last Vermont Christmas

Beyond her onscreen work, however, Corcoran has earned a reputation as one of the least assuming, kindest, most soulful human beings in an industry with a general reputation that is … well, not that.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, this manifested in “Literature with Catherine,” an Instagram Live series in which Corcoran read classics aloud, offered up a much-needed stream-of-consciousness philosophy of empathy and action and raised more than $15,000 for many worthy organizations working to alleviate the suffering.

Now, this Halloween, Michael Myers isn’t the only one who’s back. Corcoran is raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in conjunction with Halloween Hotness, an organization that brings together kindred spirits from throughout the industry to fight cancer.

“As a child, I looked forward to Halloween more than any other time of year,” Corcoran tells RUE MORGUE. “So, I’m incredibly proud to be part of St. Jude and Halloween Hotness’ fight to battle the real-life monsters of pediatric catastrophic diseases and ensure that children everywhere have the ability to embrace that same magic of the season. The only demons children should have to face are the ones in ghost stories, and these organizations are working to make that a reality.”

This year’s efforts have so far raised over $11,000. You can join Corcoran in the fight by visiting her Instagram page or clicking here

On Saturday, October 29, Corcoran will be on hand at the Halloween Hotness Gala at Madame Tussauds Hollywood alongside Doug Jones, Cerina Vincent, Barbara Crampton, Julie Nathanson, and many others. Her upcoming genre work will include the forthcoming Not Watch and 3 Days Rising, which will see Corcoran mixing it up with Mickey Rourke and Ice-T.
