The Canadian genre journalist/editor and filmmaker cuts in with “a psychotronic, sensual horror film” next year.

GIRL WITH A STRAIGHT RAZOR, also described as a “neo-giallo” movie, is the first original genre production from Canadian horror/exploitation distributor Darkside Releasing with its new partner Moleman Entertainment. “We’ve been very keen on working with genre films that deliver solid stories about women and were very pleased when Chris brought this project to us,” says Darkside’s Vince D’Amato. “Having been a fan of Chris’ writing and films within the horror genre for quite some time now, we are truly enjoying our first collaborative experience with him.”

Ali Chappell and Canadian musician/performance artist Thea Faulds star in GIRL WITH A STRAIGHT RAZOR, with Carlos Henriques on the makeup effects. Says Alexander, “I consider my work to be a kind of ‘elevated exploitation’ and GIRL WITH A STRAIGHT RAZOR is no exception. Once again, I focus on a female protagonist and sympathetic ‘human monster’ who is trapped in a sort of isolated reality and finds salvation through violence. This time, the isolation was a given, seeing as the picture was carefully produced during the pandemic with minimal cast and crew. The intimacy of the process only added to the texture of the film, really.”

The poster seen below was painted by acclaimed British comics/graphic novel artist Nick Percival (JUDGE DREDD, HELLRAISER, MARVEL ZOMBIES), and designed by Marc Schoenbach of Sadist Art Designs. GIRL is currently wrapping up postproduction, with a release date targeted for early next year.
