Rue Morgue’s CineMacabre Movie Nights promise the best of classic and contemporary horror at The Royal Cinema – once a month, every month.
Rue Morgue’s CineMacabre Movie Nights series is pleased to present a special Halloween screening of Peter Jackson’s DEAD ALIVE in celebration of our 20th anniversary! Considered to be one of the goriest and funniest horror film since EVIL DEAD 2, the film follows the nerdy and socially awkward Lionel, who must contend with his domineering mother as he pursues a romantic relationship with the shopkeeper’s daughter, Paquita. When his mom is bitten by a rabid rat-monkey, Lionel unwittingly unleashes a horrific epidemic with disastrous and hilarious results.
DEAD ALIVE was a box office flop 25 years ago, but quickly became a cult favourite amongst gore-heads and splatstick fans for its sheer, unadulterated assault on the senses that culminates in an unforgettable house party sequence. A veritable orgy of blood and guts with (dare we say) some of the most iconic special effects in Jackson’s filmography, DEAD ALIVE is not to be missed on the big screen!
Tuesday October 31 at the Royal Cinema 608 College Street, Toronto, 8 PM.
One of the greatest films ever. Just too bad this starts so early, as it’s hard for some of us parents to get there in time for this on Halloween night. For those who can make it, sure to be a real treat on the big screen.
