While producing the likes of DON’T BREATHE, the remake of his own EVIL DEAD and this year’s CRAWL via his Ghost House Pictures, Sam Raimi has been absent from the director’s chair on a horror project for too long (a decade, in fact, since 2009’s DRAG ME TO HELL), but now he’s getting back into the game.
Deadline reports that Raimi will produce and direct a currently untitled scare film that has been picked up by Columbia Pictures, for whom he previously helmed the 2000s’ SPIDER-MAN trilogy. Described at this point only as a thriller set on an island, the movie will be scripted by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, who penned FREDDY VS. JASON and the FRIDAY THE 13TH remake. (At a panel for another Ghost House production, the upcoming reboot of THE GRUDGE, at the recent New York Comic-Con, Raimi mentioned he’s working on a new horror script with his brother Ivan, though this is evidently a different project.) We’ll keep you posted on further details!
