After many years of producing bizarre, horrific features and releasing vintage cult favorites, Severin Films is now launching an ongoing video program spotlighting the filmmakers, and you can watch the first show after the jump.
THE SEVERIN CELLAR devotes its inaugural episode to Richard Stanley, whose H.P. Lovecraft adaptation COLOR OUT OF SPACE (co-produced by Severin president David Gregory) opened to strong box office this past Friday. Stanley discusses his long history with the company, which also includes THE THEATRE BIZARRE, the fright anthology that saw the director return to narrative filmmaking after two decades of documentary work; the special-edition Blu-ray and DVD releases of his debut feature HARDWARE, now out of print; his mystical doc THE OTHERWORLD; and Gregory’s LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF RICHARD STANLEY’S “THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU,” which chronicles the much-troubled production from which Stanley was dismissed. Further installments of THE SEVERIN CELLAR will air at Severin’s YouTube channel on a semi-regular basis.
