Anna (Alanna Bale), a centuries-old vampire, is inspired to get off the red stuff when she falls for Robbie (Luke Bilyk), an alcoholic mortal, in KICKING BLOOD. However, staying on the wagon proves more difficult – and more dangerous – than she could imagine.

Directed and co-written by musician and filmmaker Blaine Thurier, formerly of the indie rock powerhouse The New Pornographers, KICKING BLOOD made a crimson splash at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, where it was described by programmer Steve Gravestock as “A sultry, perma-stoned, ultra-modern spin on the vampire genre [that] evokes cult-horror figures like George A. Romero and Stuart Gordon.” KICKING BLOOD continued its festival onslaught with successful screenings at Ontario’s Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival and the Vancouver International Film Festival.

On April 15, LevelFILM’s KICKING BLOOD will open in a limited release at Toronto’s Scotiabank Theater. Check out the trailer and poster for this innovative take on a long-in-the-tooth subgenre below!
