The fourth annual Popcorn Frights Film Festival, the biggest event of its kind in the Southeast U.S., has added a bunch more hot horror titles to its lineup, joining the movies previously announced here.

The 2018 edition of Popcorn Frights, which runs August 10-16 at Ft. Lauderdale, FL’s Savor Cinema (503 SE 6th Street), will host the world premiere of the Russian teen killfest CURSED SEAT (pictured), directed by Nadezhda Mikhalkova, and the North Amerian premiere of another film from the same country, Anton Zenkovich’s DEADLY STILL, about a cursed camera (not moonshine). There will also be the East Coast premieres of PIERCING, a psychosexual tale of cat and mouse from THE EYES OF MY MOTHER’S Nicolas Pesce, and Hans Stjernswärd’s backwoods gorefest THE FARM. Making their Southeast U.S. premieres are Shinichiro Ueda’s much-praised meta-zombie feature ONE CUT OF THE DEAD and Marc Martínez Jordán’s home-invasion/torture opus FRAMED; there will be Florida premieres for Jenn Wexler’s punk-rock slasher-in-the-woods chiller THE RANGER, Issa López’s survival-on-the-streets-of-Mexico-City thriller TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID, Xavier Gens’ Lovecraftian island-bound supernatural saga COLD SKIN and Michael Tully’s DON’T LEAVE HOME, in which an artist investigates an eerie urban legend; and the South Florida premiere of François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell’s SUMMER OF 84, in which teens investigate a suspected serial killer.

Popcorn Frights will also showcase over 30 short films from 10 countries, including several local efforts as part of its “Homegrown: 100% Pure Fresh Squeezed Florida Horror” program. For more on the fest, tickets, etc., hit up the official website.
