Having written and directed an episode of Quibi’s 50 STATES OF FRIGHT for Sam Raimi, A QUIET PLACE screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods are reteaming with Raimi on an untitled feature.
Last August, it was revealed that a sequel to the scary sleeper smash A QUIET PLACE will be released by Paramount Pictures May 15, 2020, and today we’ve learned that the original director is returning.
With 2018 behind us, it’s time to look back on a year that gave us quite a variety of frightening fare, from the majors, the indie sector and streaming services, spanning every tone and subject the genre has to offer. My personal selections for the top titles run the gamut from full-bore terror to very odd stories of the unearthly.
After its enormous box-office success ($188 million in the U.S. and over $144 million overseas), it was inevitable that A QUIET PLACE would be sequelized, and now there’s a release berth for the follow-up.
A variation on the postapocalyptic-terror genre that is as frightening as it is moving—and that’s plenty.
