Ahead of its world premiere in the Midnight Madness section of the current Toronto International Film Festival, the topical, brutal thriller THE STANDOFF AT SPARROW CREEK has found North American distribution.

RLJE Films has announced that it will release Cinestate and XYZ Films’ THE STANDOFF AT SPARROW CREEK in theaters and on VOD/digital HD in early 2019. Directed by first-timer Henry Dunham from his screenplay (which was on the 2015 Black List under the title MILITIA), the movie was produced by Dallas Sonnier (BONE TOMAHAWK, PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH), Amanda Presmyk, Sefton Fincham, Johnathan Brownlee and Adam Donaghey. The cast is headed by James Badge Dale, Chris Mulkey, Brian Geraghty, Robert Aramayo, Patrick Fischler, Happy Anderson and Gene Jones (THE SACRAMENT). The synopsis: “After a shooting at a police funeral, reclusive ex-cop Gannon [Dale] finds himself unwittingly forced out of retirement when he realizes that the killer belongs to the same militia he joined after quitting the force. Understanding that the shooting could set off a chain reaction of copycat violence across the country, Gannon quarantines his fellow militiamen in the remote lumber mill they call their headquarters. There, he sets about a series of grueling interrogations, intent on ferreting out the killer and turning him over to the authorities to prevent further bloodshed.”
