Stuck Indoors, High School Students Create Horror Podcast

Friday, December 4, 2020 | Podcasts

Like everyone else in the world, the drama students of Evansville North High School needed a way to channel their creative energies during quarantine and have come up with a corker: an episodic horror podcast titled The Loft!

“After a devastating loss in the family, a young girl and her friends fall into a mystery that has been looming in their community for generations. Through the use of a ouija board, a mysterious new stranger helps them contact the spirit world in search of answers that result in dire consequences. Nightmares, spectral encounters, and exorcisms are the result of their exploration into the paranormal world. Will they make it out with their sanity intact?”

Supervised and written by Director Chris Tyner and Mark Rigney when the Evansville North High School Drama Department had to cancel its Fall musical, The Loft gave students a much-needed opportunity to perform and have a hands-on experience in creating each of the 4 episodes, which are replete with immersive sound effects and some impressive voice work from the teenage actors. Each chapter is also given a unique visual element by Nina Spellman.
