Some horror movie characters are inexorably tied to the actors who portray them, to the point where they are virtually inseparable. But should they be separated? Two writers enter the ring to battle it out…

Should iconic horror characters be retired when the actor who portrays them retires?

In the first corner, D.D. CROWLEY argues Yes, stating that “characters such as Freddy Krueger and Hellraiser’s Pinhead rely too much on the attitude and persona informed by the actor’s performance”.

In the opposite corner, RM columnist JACOB TRUSSELL counters with No, arguing that “new actors in these roles can give us a fresh appreciation of the character.”
