Watch a clip from “LILI”, a new short premiering on ALTER July 22nd

This Wednesday, July 22nd, ALTER is exclusively premiering the Fantasia 2019 award winning short-horror film LILI, and we’ve got a clip for you to check out before the film’s release.

Director Yfke van Berckelaer brings us this short that follows Lili (Lisa Smit – Netflix’s Ares), who knows she has to nail her next audition. The Man (Derek de Lint – Soldier of Orange/The Unbearable Lightness of Being) she auditions for knows this too. Thus begins an uncomfortable cat-and-mouse game about power, the misuse of power and female empowerment.

“Lili is very much inspired by the #metoo movement,” explains van Berckelaer. “When it first hit, I was so moved to see all these women (and men) band together to take a stand. So it floored me when I would hear people say that they thought this was just an overblown cry for attention because ‘It’s not that hard to say ‘no’’. I realized many people weren’t understanding the situations these women were placed in, and so I wanted to make a movie that would show how vulnerable you can be, how trapped, and how hard it is to get out of.”

Check out Alter’s website or YouTube channel for LILI’s premier this Wednesday.
